IS-1239 is primarily focused on specifications for water tubes, while IS-10577/82 specifically outlines the requirements for lancing pipes used in metallurgical processes. These standards ensure that lancing pipes meet the necessary performance and safety criteria for effectively handling high-pressure applications, unlike IS-1239, which does not pertain to the lancing pipe applications.

No NB Stands for Nominal Bore. It is not the same as OD (Outside diameter). NB is a Nomenclature and is basically the name assigned to that particular Pipes. Please refer to the IS-10577/82 given in our Products to get the correct Outside diameter and Thickness of each pipe Category. As per the IS the pipes are classified by their OD (Outside Diameter) and not ID (Inside diameter). This is because the pipes need to be threaded at both ends or at one end as such the OD cannot vary beyond a certain range as specified in the IS.

We recommend buying pipes in Metric Tons because it ensures more accurate verification of specifications. When purchasing by meter, it’s challenging to check the thickness of each pipe, count the exact number of bundles, or verify the number of pipes within each bundle. Additionally, pipes are typically supplied in bundles, making it difficult to measure the length of each pipe accurately. By purchasing in Metric Tons, we can ensure compliance with standards. However, if a customer prefers to buy by meter, we request that the weight per meter, as stated in the relevant IS standards, be included in the purchase order to avoid any discrepancies and ensure the materials meet specified standards.
